crashing after the last update

i downloaded the app a few days ago, and used it once to send/receive files between my macbook air and ipad - as a test. loved it. however, after i downloaded the latest update from dec 22, the app doesn’t open on my macbook. tried to reinstall a few times - no success. OS X 10.9.5
